car rental

Our plans are set at last. Thanks for all your help.

We will stay at El Sabanero Eco Lodge near Tamarindo

and then stay at La Finisterra in Playa Hermosa.

I assume we will need a car.

What is the best company to rent from.

Can we rent a small economy car for this area?

We are flying into Liberia.

Thanks ,

Lizannie

Stick to the big guys and you'll be fine, Dollar,Alamo,Avis, Mapache is a good local company, I'm sure there are other good ones.

I also like adobe great service. Whatever company you use make sure they include the mandatory daily insurance to avoid surprises when picking up the car rental.

Good point by Cuabanon...deal with the big guys...you may pay a little more...but it is worth it at athe end to have a nice vacation...

What ever they quote you...print the information and bring it with you...insurance is a tricky issue in our country!

I agree, stick with the major players.

My tip of the day....

Whenever I rent a car I take pictures (or video) of it all around and especially noting any scratches or dings. That way you have a record of the condition of the vehicle when you started. Be sure to have your date and time stamp turned on. They say a picture is worth a thousand words!

Thank you for all your help.

Another question??????????

Once we got to Playa would it be possible to take local

buses to travel up and down the coast?

Maybe we do not need a car for our whole trip.

Yes, you can take the bus to travel up and down the coast. And really, you don't need a car at all. Transportation by bus, shuttle or taxi is available in both places.

You could just rent a car for part of your trip and do a bit of exploring and otherwise just take alternate transportation.

You can look here for more bus information: www.thebusschedule.com/cr/

That's great news. Cars are so expensive.

Would we be able to get to the beaches by bus from El Sabanero ?

OP, the bus goes past the lodge every hour during the day (not air con) for about $3.00US one way, or a taxi to Tamarindo and area beaches is $20US round trip should you want an air con ride there or back.

Hope this helps.
