Good hotel for couple guys travelling

Hi there,

After a lot of research I believe we have decided on a trip to Tamarindo given the combination of surfing, beaches, proximity to adventure and also night life. Planning on coming the week of November 12th and wanted to get confirmation that this would be the right spot and also some advice on a hotel.

The 2 of us have very different interests, so its been a tough search. 1 is more interested in night life, hanging out pool side with a drink or on the beach and is single so looking to meet girls, the other is more interested in surfing and site seeing, but also likes to party and always open to meeting new people. We are both going to compromise each day, but need access to both of our interests. Should note we're early 30's.

With that said, any thoughts on a good location given our diverse needs? Be nice to be able to mingle at the hotel while also having access to surf and daily adventures. Looked at Vista Villas and El Jardin. Thinking the Diria might be older/family crowds?

Any help would be much appreciated!

November 12th, right??? Is a nice week, there will more people than now and the parties are going to be more fun... Tamarindo beach is nice for surfing, you could get fun here, the sunsets are amazing and surf under an orange sky is one of the best things ever done... The nightlife is hot in here, but, How sounds a funny afternoon (don't forget the killers sunsets) in happy hour, nice ocean view from a bar where the staff makes you laugh until cry? So good right, we Know it.

If you want to get fun at night try Beach Club, Sharkys, Monkey Bar.

Thank you for your reply BW, it sounds like Tamarindo will be a great place to visit. I'm curious how far is the vista villas from all the action? How long of a walk would it be to all the action down town? Are there surfing lessons near by?

I'm guessing your a little biased on what hotel to stay at. Any thoughts on the other locations we were looking at?

Also, curious what the best way to get from the airport to Tamarindo?

Thank!

Vista Villas are about a five minute walk from the town center. Tamarindo isn't too big and you can walk completely across it in about ten to fifteen minutes. The Dira (downtown) or Suizo (just outside town) are nice beachfront locations and El Jardin is five minutes uphill. The Diria certainly has the location but I wouldn't choose it for a couple of young guys. Vista Villas could work for you as well as Pasatiempo, maybe Arco Iris.

Check these:

Airport to Tamarindo privately is $80 total or $150 return trip.

Yup, Pasatiempo or BW probably your best bet for nightlife, although you'll also want to go to Sharky's, Bar 1, El Garito, etc.

Diria only one mentioned right on the beach.

Arco Iris is good and has a great restaurant on site, but mellower vibe.

Thank you all so much for your input....very helpful.

When you say that Pasatiempo or BW are best for nightlife do you mean they are good places to go to party at night, or to stay at because other fun minded people will be staying there as well? Ideally we would want to be at the hotel where there will be other people staying that are out to have a good time. Also, wouldn't mind some half decent accomidations as we aren't on a budget, just want to be somewhere good and fun. Are there surf schools near both locations suggested? Would those 2 be the best recommendations for a couple of early 30 guys?

Thanks again!!!

Ok, so sounds like the BW will be the best place to stay to meet new people, have some fun and still be staying in a good quality room and location.

Second choice when we get there might be Pasa or Arco's Iris.

Is the Diria not a good spot as well? When Xplore says its not good for a couple of young guys what does he mean by that? We aren't that young any more haha.

Thanks again!!

During the day or afternoon on the days your not out surfing or on the beach can you hang out at other hotels?

So if our hotel is slow, can we go to another one for a beer in the afternoon? Or do some of them not allow you to be there unless your a guest?
