Tour suggestions leaving from Tamarindo

My husband and I are going to the Barcelo Langosta Beach for 9 days in November. We would like to do a few day trips during that time, including zip line, canopy walk, boat trip, etc. The tour company (Sunquest) will probably offer tours through the hotel, but just wondering if there are specific tours that are highly recommended. Also are there tour companies in town that anyone would recommend. Have also heard that the volcano trip is a long distance from the Barcelo. Is this something we would regret not doing?

Thanks.

THe volcano trip is a long distance from Tamarindo, but nice.

nevertheless you could try the closest ones. Take in consideration Pura Aventura for zipline-bike tour and horseback riding. You can use the normal pick up or use a package including all the way in ATV.

The guides in the national park is a nice option if you want a night watching turtles or a trip through the mangrove.

Marlin del Rey Catamaran tour is a party boat with open bar, snacks and snorkel at the sunset... Amazing.

Other nice tour could be El Viejo, or Buena Vista. Are you a open water Diver? dive in Catalina's Island is a experience full of fishes, sharks and some whales depending of the season.

The Marlin del Rey sunset tour looks a little expensive at $85, what does this include? Is it a cash bar on top?

You can visit Rincon de la Vieja Volcano...just a couple hours from Barcelo Playa Langosta even less...check...Hotel Haceinda Guachiplein...everything you ae looking for and even more...even better if you rent a car and drive there...is easy and nice ride...and you will save a lot of money...

Also Palo Verde National Park...great to see wild life...about 1.5 hours from Tamarindo on the Santa Cruz way...

Liz, the most popular things to do are the catamaran sunset cruise (and yes it's food and open bar and an hour or so of snorkeling). ATVs are a great way to see the area, zip lines, turtle tours, Palo Verde Croc Safari and of course any of the combo tours to Rincon de la Vieja (Buena Vista; Vandara; Canyon de la Vieja; Borinquen or Guachipelin). Arenal is possible but it's a long day and there's no lava anymore. You'll have to decide if the 8 hours driving is worth it.

Can someone clarify what 'open bar' means? Is it just 'open' for you to go and buy a drink or are all drinks included in the ticket price??

The open bar is free for the time you're on the boat. They provide sodas, juices, water, wine, beer, well drinks, and the Marlin is so big it can even make the fru-fru blender drinks.
