Visiting Costa Rica for the first time in April and just looking for some clarification on the transportation options from the Airport to Puerto Viejo. I have been doing my research on here and many other websites and I just wanted to make sure I understood my transportation options.
First: Only private shuttles/drivers can pick up at the airport, correct?
Second: the taxi ride from the airport to San Jose (bus terminal or other pick up site ex.Denny's for Caribe) is about $25?
If I am correct on the above, I feel that my best option would be the Gecko Trail service of where they buy you a bus ticket ahead of time and pick you up at the airport and transport you to the bus station. Gets the best of both worlds- airport pick-up and cheaper than the combined taxi & semi-private shuttle. Or am I missing something? I already know our arrival time and bus time allows us enough time to make it so I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.
Has anyone used this service and how was it?
Thanks and can't wait to get to Costa Rica! Cheers!
