Going to CR in March 2013

We want to visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest and scuba at Cano - is that too ambitious for an 8 day trip in March 2013? (daughter is spending several months @ Monteverde) We don't need extravagant hotels, but want them to be safe. We're looking at the tent camp at Drake Bay even http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gL34NmYxh0 Has anyone been there?

Any advise for hotels and driving? is it safe to get a rental to drive clear down to Drake Bay? Are there good scuba places closer to the Jaco area perhaps? It's hard to tell if it's just marketing or the truth about scuba @ Cano Island.

Also, we would like to go out sailing, not on a large charter, but a smaller one - any suggestions?

Thank you

Are you dead set on Jaco? You might consider staying some place closer to Drake Bay like Dominical or Uvita. Lots of diving out of Uvita.

I think most people access Drake Bay via boat because the roads are so rough.

I'm assuming you'll be flying out of San Jose. If Liberia, this is a really ambitious trip with lots of driving for 8 days.

Surely it is not too ambitious. If you will rent a car have a break midway. Dominical/Uvita is one option, Hacienda Baru second. Otherwise fly to Drake Bay (and drive back). Cano Island is the best place to dive and to snorkel in Costa Rica ... if it will be up to its reputation depends on your previous dive sites and your expectations. There are several budget options in that area, like Finca Maresia and Las Caletas.

Great idea...and as other mentioned...maybe UVITA is lot better options for your plans...check TIKIVILLAS...very nice place ...very relax...worth to spend some time there...just to relax!

And from Uvita you can even do the Caño Island...or just keep going into OSA!

We took a group of friends not long ago to Caño...my friends thaty have had been diving all over around the world and you can not imagine the faces of this guys onece they were back into the boat...they just can not beleive Caño´s life!

Make sure to check out Costa Rica Waterfall Tours while in Jaco. They take you to experience the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica!
