Need help w/ Mal Pais/Santa Teresa hotel

Greetings. We'd love some insight/help picking our place to stay in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. We want something central but not too central, with a nice room and a 5-minute walk to the beach or less.

I think we've narrowed ourselves down to:

Moana Lodge

Casa Marbella

Otro Lado

Casas del Soleil

Thoughts??

Leading towards Marbella but fear it may be too far of a walk to the beaches.

Thanks :)

If we stay in Mal Pais we'll be staying in Moana Lodge. Their Junior and Master suites look amazing (their master suite especially) and their prices seem to be pretty good.

I will try to explain your choices as best as possible.

Santa Teresa: the main road parallels the beach at about the 200 meter mark or more and goes from the cruce...(aka crossroads) at Playa Carmen north about 6K. to Playa Hermosa. There are roads that are off-shoots of the main road that go inland a few hundred meters and then head up a steep incline to plateaus that overlook the beach and coastline, the higher you go, the better the view.

If the place you are checking out says 'great ocean/beach views' then, you are looking at elevation and likely more than a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. So, that would pretty much tell you about Casa Marbella....but, it is a gorgeous place to stay!

Moana Lodge is also very beautiful, and it is a 5 minute walk formt he beach, but the beach in Mal Pais is rocky, and you will have to walk another 15 minutes to get to Playa Carmen and the beautiful beaches which then stretch for miles and miles onward north.

Otro Lado is just about 300 meters from the beach and a 5 minute walk.

Casas del Soleil is arout a 5 minute walk, maybe a bit longer (depending on your route and how fast you walk).

Marbella being the farthest from the beach and Moana being close, but the farthest from the nice beaches.

Your choice. All are wonderful and have their pros and cons.... If you want to be right on the beach, VRBO has some good deals for rentals and there are other places...

Thank you for your help. What/where exactly is VRBO?? We're staying for 6 nights and just want to find the place that best meets all of our needs (good location, reasonable price ($100-150), decent facilities).

Are places on the main strip (like Otro Lado) noisy? The long walk from Marbella sounds like it could be a hassle but is probably worth it if it means we can have some quiet and not be kept awake until 2am.

decisions, decisions.......

VRBO = Vacation Rental By Owner:

vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/…malpais-area

Some of these places listed are reasonable and near or on the beach.

Try hotel the place, ask for Candice,

Aparthotel OASIS, ask for Marianne or as you said Moana Lodge, all 3 lovely and quiet places close to surf beach.
