Walking from The Falls to La Posada...about 30 minutes or even more...La Posada is by the Park entrance...

Hard to see animals around the Falls now days...a lot of construction is going on around...bad news for the monkies!

There are a lot of monkeys everyday at the Falls, the construccion isn't affecting the hotel a lot since it is sorruound by a lot vegetacion. The falls is a great option for walking distance restaurants in the top of the hill. La Posada is a great small hotel but isn't very luxuryus. You have the beach within walking distance though. If you are considering La Posada you may want to check on availability as they appear to get booked up quite far in advance. We debated between both properties as well and when decided to book at La Posada found that our preferred dates were booked. We did end up booking at La Posada but were very impressed with the excellent response we received to all of our inquiries from the Falls. Actually everyone in Costa Rica that we've sent inquiries to has been so generous in their responses.

You might want to look in to Buena Vista Villas. They are luxurious and jungly with monkeys visiting your deck. La Posada is cute with a very friendly owner, but not at all luxurious.

And remember you will see monkies and wild life at the park...many good guides around for about $30.00 per person tour...among them...Juan Brenes and Maurilio Cordero...two of the best guides around!

I agree with Roadadvisor on some of the more luxury locations with more to do. La Posada will be kind of boring for your older kids, unless they want an easy walk to the beach and park and not much else. The Falls is great location for walking to things like movies at Si Como No, billiards, ladies night, dancing, pizza, monkeys at hotel Byblos, it's close to El Avion (the plane) restaurant, and many other spots. So that is not a bad option. Still Buena Vista or Arenas del Mar are more luxurious, and have beaches righ there too. Enjoy wherever you decide!

We stayed at La Posada last April and it was definately the highlight of our trip...close to the beach, awesome breakfast and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Are going back in March and wasn't able to secure La Posada, but we plan on visiting there often! Happy travels! :-)
