Montezuma or Mal Pais? HELP!

I'm so confused about where to stay! I'm traveling with 4 teenagers/college students (some of them mine) who, naturally, want a bit of nightlife. I would like a few places to go for dinner and conversation without feeling like the oldest person in the room, but don't want to be in surfer camp central.

We have one surfer, 3 beach girlsand me - all of us fit and anxious to hike, swim, snorket, etc.

Montezuma is closer to entrance of cabo blanco, a plus.

Mal Pais/Santa Theresa seem to have more interesting and less expensive loding.

Which to choose?

MontezumaCR: Great response. We will be in Montezuma for 6 days and MalPais for 3 days next March. Any recommendations with regard to scuba diving?

Thank you MontezumaCR:

We enjoy snorkelling very much, but diving is more of a passion. We went diving off Cano Island this spring and saw some amazing wildlife-- visibility was better than we had expected (something in the 50 foot range), so if we are able to get three or four dives in with this type of visibility in Montezuma, we would be happy.

Hi, Humberto. We met in Montezuma right before New Years when you helped me arrange boat logistics for some people visiting in February. You were laughing because I was fleeing town as the place seemed to have transformed virtually overnight from a tranquil little place into a mosh pit of gringos and ticos who descended for New Years Eve :) Anyways, mucho gracias -- the Herradura-Montezuma boat worked out great for them as they were really happy to not have to spend a few hours trekking up from Villa Celatas and dealing with the Puntarenas Ferry connection.
