Sierpe boat reservations

If our B&B in Drake Bay doesn't make reservations for us, how do we go about making reservations for the boat? Are they needed? We'll be traveling in January. I've contacted our host a couple of times about this, but haven't heard back. It's been a few weeks.

Your lodge should really assist you with the info... Anyway, the boats leave from Bar Las Vegas and its a colective taxi, so you can not reserve directly, just show up in time. Departs 11:30 and again at either 300pm or 3:30pm

It is $15 per person each way and you should not have trouble getting a space if you arrive on time. Depending on the location of the lodge, they might need to pick you up on arrival to Drake and transfer by boat to their lodge.

There are boats leaving in the morning through the mid afternoon.. It is pretty much walk on from the local restaurant from which most of the launches depart. We were there at the beginning of this month and took a one day tour out to the park. Our boat stopped to drop a couple off at one of the remote lodges. You can also safely drive a small 4x4 to Drake Bay or fly in on once daily Nature Air flights. There are local taxis to run you to your destination if it can be reached by road and your hosts don't offer to pick you up.

We drove from Sierpe to Drake Bay in under 2.5 hours using the small ferry and rough, but passable (in 2 x 4) scenic road that connects with Highway 245 just before the Drake Bay cut off. There are 4 rivers to cross, with only the last one (4 kms from DB) possibly requiring 4x4. This time of year all should be predictably crossable.. The dirt roads are bumpy and sometimes quite narrow, steep and curvy. They are not muddy or frequently washed out except during sever rains which occur usually Sept - Nov. An SUV is required as much for its heavy suspension and clearance as its 4x4 capability
