where to stay for surfing without a car.

I will be in costa rica for my 3rd time this april, a few days in Playa Grande then I will fly to Osa, looking for the jungle but need to have nearby surf as I will not have a car. Where should I stay? Thank You

I would suggest staying down in Cabo Matapalo. There are a few very good surfing beaches...Matapalo and Backwash Bay for the good to expert surfers and Pan Dulce for the novice to good surfers. There are lots of lodging options from nature lodges to rental houses to basic room and board type cabins. There is also lots of rainforest and wildlife.

I second Matapalo, not only for the surf breaks that osalife mentions, but because the public collective passes twice per day, once in the am and again in the afternoon. You can travel either down to Carate or up to Puerto Jimenez.
