Chartering a boat from Drake Bay to Puerto Jimenez

We are a family of 4 traveling in rainy season (mid July).

- Where could one charter a boat to get from Drake Bay to Puerto Jimenez?

- What might one expect to pay?

- How long does it take?

- What sea conditions might one expect at that time of year? (are boats covered or are you exposed to the elements in rainy season)

I checked into chartering a plane - cost was a little over $400. Was hoping a boat might be less expensive.

I don't know that such a charter is an option. In general, boats from Puerto Jimenez don't go to Drake Bay due to sea conditions, so the boat operator would probably not be willing to take his boat there only to have it stuck on that side of the Osa.

Thanks - this actually helps cement our thinking to stay in Drake Bay for longer instead of the additional expense/effort of travelling to Puerto Jiminez.

It is possible to get there via ground, but during rainy season maybe not. (I hope you're planning to fly in/out of Drake).

We changed our plans to cut out Drake Bay and now fly in/out of Puerto Jimenez.

What's the concern you're alluding to flying in and out of Drake? Does this concern also apply to Puerto Jimenez?

I just booked us on Nature Air.

Concern was with driving to the Osa, not with Drake.

Concern is when driving the dirt road from Rincon to Drake Bay in the rainy season. A couple of days ago one poster described the drive very detailed. Flying either Drake Bay either Puerto Jimenez is fine; if a storm is forecasted, the flight will be cancelled anyway.

Specially for the season I might think about taking an Internal Flight, ask if they could get you a better price. I totally recommend the one that at had fly, Sansa. And the view is amazing.
