transfer from SJO airport to Puntarenas

I'll get San Jose airport at 1pm and I need to go to Hilton Puntarenas. I'd like to know a good and affordable way to get Puntarenas....

1. Public bus - the most affordable

There is a bus station near the airport known as "La Radial." Buses going north from San Jose to Puntarenas stop here to pick up more passengers. Take a taxi to the bus station. You will pay the driver in colones - you can get colones from an ATM before you exit the airport terminal. For times: www.thebusschedule.com Look for buses from San Jose to Puntarenas and the bus will arrive at La Radial about 30-45 minutes after leaving San Jose. Around $5

PS: The airport is actually located in Alajuela, not San Jose.

2. Shared van shuttle

They provide hotel-to-hotel transfer service for around $50 - more or less, depending. You can arrange to get picked up at the nearby Holiday Inn Express - about 5 minutes from the airport and a taxi ride of about $2-3. Look at www.interbusonline.com or www.anywherecostarica.com (click on transportation) and check with Montezuma Expeditions.

The most affordable way by public bus...plenty buses daily and it will take about 1 hour or even less...do not deal with any middle company or tour operator...some of them with nice web sites but design to squeze money from nice people like you...deal direct with travel services providers...avoid middle companies or people...
