Sofitel Moorea/ferry/Faaa

Gidday Moorea!

I'm excited, we have one night in an OVERWATER BUNGALOW Sofitel Moorea after a Tahitian Princess voyage in October! Im just a bit confused what to do in travelling back to Papeete to catch our flight. We checkout our OWB at noon on a Friday. Our flight back to Australia (via New Zealand) departs 4.30pm. There dosnt seem to be many ferries around lunchtime. If i'm reading the timetable right, there seems to be a 30minute ferry departing Moorea at 1.50pm. Would that be enough time to make the 4.30pm flight? Also,is it possible to pre-book a van or taxi from Sofitel to the ferry? Im a bit paranoid about not making the connection! Is it easy enough to grab a taxi from the port in Papeete to Faaa airport? Any comments would be greatly appriciated! :)

Catch the 10:50 ferry and play it safe.

You schould have no troble getting a taxi to the ferry dock in Moorea from the Sofitel. In Tahiti there are taxis at most time on the dock but if you see no taxis go across the street and look as there are several taxi stands there. Another choice would to fly over and then you would be at the airport.

Thanks for your fast responses!!

Will consider flying back to Faaa so we dont have to checkout early then can make the most of our OWB! The Air Moorea site donst show times for bookings over the internet. Im guessing the flights are frequent, and would look to book a flight around 1pm. Does that sound right for a international connection of 4.30pm?

Air Moorea flys from Moorea generally 15 min after

the hour all day long.

Thanks hamara,

Tried unsuccessfully to book/enquire on the Air Moorea site. Ive just sent an email to Air Moorea reservations requesting transfers and availbility of a flight around 1pm.

This TripAdvisor Moorea forum is invaluable! You guys are great. We are also staying 3 nights on Moorea at Les Tipaniers prior to our cruise and the Moorea forum has supplied a bucket load of valuable info!

Merci!

When you stay at Les Tipaniers call Air Moorea or stop by the Air Moorea counter at the Moorea airport and reserve your Air Moorea flight. Believe it not all Air Moorea does is write your name in a log book

and then check off your name when you show up for your flight.

Fly back but be prepared if the weather is bad to leave enough time to grab the ferry .....

This happened to us once, Air Moorea refunded our money on the spot and we grabed a taxi and headed for the ferry .......

So take a look at the sky about 9:30, if it is real cloudy you might want to run for the ferry .....

Excellent!

Will consider both, putting my name down at Air Moorea while at Les Tips AND looking up at the sky on the day!!

:)
