Is anyone else going to be in Huahine at Maitai Lapita Village during this time frame too?

the trip to Huahine was very good. It is not a commercialized island, so no high rise buildings or chain hotels. It's beautiful and the people are very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

We stayed 2 nights at Matai Lapita Village and had our meals at the hotel (after visiting Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora). We matched our schedule to other friends that went on a portion of the trip - if we didnt take that into consideration I would have made Bora Bora the last stop.

We took an island tour with Poe booked through the hotel which was fun, informative and turned out to be a great choice.

We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon and wish we would have known at check in that most tour companies there do not operate on Sundays and if they do it's only an early morning one.... Also none of the stores or local restaurants are open on Sunday either - just FYI.

Yes, on Sundays you have to expect a very quiet day in the main part of town. It is a good day to hire a car or a bike and go exploring, though. Or just sit at a sidewalk cafe — uh, there is only ONE — and watch the locals.

Thanks for the reply, twosassyk. We'll be heading to Tahiti next May - Moorea + 1 other island (trying to decide). We've been to Bora Bora on our last trip. Huahine is looking like it might be a good option for us. Thanks again!

We visited Huahine in April and greatly enjoyed Marc's Motu Picnic. Huku Hiva is another incredibly beautiful island.
