Food & Drink Prices?

Hi - we are looking at going to the Pacific Resort, we would like to know what their food and drink prices are like, do they vary much from Pacific Resort Rarotonga?? Also, if youstay at the Pacific are there any other bars/restaurants nearby that you can walk to? Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

I can find out specifics for you later but my guess is that the Aitutaki prices are probably slightly higher than the Raro prices - as they are with almost everything.

There aren't a lot of restaurants on the island but there are a few good ones worth trying. The closest one within walking distance would be the beach restaurant and Tamanu Resort. However, the island is small so consider renting a scooter and then you will have the freedom to try other restaurants when you feel like it.

Here's a good website for Aitutaki businesses and it also has a resort locator map so you can get a better idea of where you'll be: http://www.aitutaki-accommodations.com

Hi Foo66

Click on Pacific Resort Rarotonga sit.

www.pacificresort.com

Under dining you will find a link for their menu's. This will give you a bit of an idea of what their prices could be like at the other resort, you could even email them and ask.

Havn't been there myself on Aititaki but went to the Sandles Bar in Rarotonga

Cheers

Kia Orana Foo,

Aitutaki has several wonderful eateries - besides Pacific Resort itself, try Tupuna's Cafe inland of Arutangi, romantic garden setting. Also the Boatshed Bar and Grill at O'otu Beach. Stroll along beachfront from PR to Tamanu Resort nearby for their island-nite, the fire dancing is a show-stopper. Prices on Aituaki reflect the higher freight costs to import goods and fuel supplies/diesel-run electricity etc.

Steak meals on average $3.00 to $5.00 more than Raro, and wine prices similarly higher too. But expect to find a range of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables grown locally, as well as fresh fish catches. Aitutaki baked bread is flavoursome also. Nice spot for brunch or luncheon is Tauono's organic garden - past Tamanu & towards the airport in Amuri.

Cheers - Kia Manuia.

Hello!

Tupuna's Cafe is FANTASTIC and I seem to remember they will pick you up from the Pacific Resort - we had 2 brilliant meals there. We ate well at P.R. too, there wasn't too much difference in price from P.R. Rarotonga.

Enjoy - you'll love it!!

We just returned from Pacific Resort Aitutaki and yes the prices are higher for sure. We loved our stay at the resort and the setting is absolutely unforgettable. Unfortunately, the food is nothing to write home about--it's not that its bad food, but considering the resort, it should be great food. And it wasn't just one not so great meal, we ate there for seven days (we had a credit, so not much choice).

On the other hand, you absolutely must go to Tupuna's Restaurant--food was very very good there. The Boat Shed was also worth a trip and prices were reasonable there as well.

Just thought I'd mention that I went to the PR for dinner a few nights ago and the average price for a main course was between $27 and $38. (This was in the main restaurant, not the Black Rock, which may be slightly lower). Not sure how that compares to Raro but hopefully that gives folks some idea of what to expect.
