Best Romantic Honeymoon Dinner in Raro?

What would you recommend for amazing food for our honeymoon dinner? I am thinking about having it catered to our villa but perhaps the ambiance of some of the restaurants are so amazing that we should eat there?

Last year we visited Rarotonga and one of the highlights was having dinner at the Tamarind - beautiful setting, very romantic and gorgeous food.

IIRC, Tamarind has a couple of tables set out on a deck at the beach, set off a distance from the main restaurant. Looked pretty spectacular.

Food and service are very good here.

Can't find the info on their site, but maybe someone in the forum can confirm about those private tables.

Yep Tamarind House is nice to be sure! Also, the Flame Tree in Muri Beach is small, quiet and quite romantic.

sunny regards,

This picture shows a table set away from the main restaurant at Tamarind house. I have also seen a table set up on the deck over looking the water, weather permitting.

Tamarind House is the logical choice.

While I agree re the Tamarind on a par is the Little Polynesian.

The setting is fantastic, the food excellent and the service when we went could not be faulted.

We had a table that looked across the infinity pool to the lagoon with swaying palms bending in to frame the outlook. Alternatively. they have a table on a raised deck to the left where you would have the view and be private.

Everything is new and very tastefully laid out.

Villas at the front are NZ$900 so you can imagine the excellence of their dining.

Personally I would choose the Little Poly and if you do book, explain that you want romance and privacy. They will bend over backwards.

We had an excellent (honeymoon) dinner in very beautiful/romantic setting at the Little Polynesian, so I can certainly recommend that.

The food (and setting) is much worse at the Flame Tree. Did not try the other ones, but you won't go wrong with Little Pol.

Just returned from Aitutaki and Raro and the best meal we had by far was at Tamarind House. Great food, great service and a lovely setting.

just returned from the cooks. had dinner at the tamarind....was excellent, however, they didn't have any tables set up on the deck near the ocean. walked by another day, and again, they weren't setting up tables there, just on the main deck. but don't let that take anything away from the restaurant. the food was amazing, and the piano (keyboard meant to sound like piano) player was awesome. played great music all night. very romantic.

didn't go to the flametree, was planning on it, but after talking to a local, he said it had gone down hill and not to bother. could be true, could be not, be we decided to not take the chance.

as for intimate and romantic, we took the recomendation of the "kiwi living in the cooks" and went to the waterline. loved it. food was great...maybe not as gourmet as tamarind...but still great, actually, fantastic. and we sat at a picnic style table right on the beach under the coconut trees, feet in the sand, listening to the ocean. incredibly romantic, and definatley rustic. the owner, chris, was very friendly and engaging as well.

tuff call, i say do tamarind for your honeymoon dinner, and do the waterline for your last romantic night in the cooks (that's what we did, what a great ending)
