Wedding Dress - Rarotonga

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question - does anyone know if one has to pay duty when taking a wedding dress to Rarotonga? If so, does anyone have a clue as to what the rate is - whether its a set amount or percentage of the cost of the dress etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kia Orana Mo, welcome to the forum.

The personal duty-free limit is $750 - cookislandsairports.com/customs-immigration/.

With a wedding dress being considered a personal effect, and if your arrival into Rarotonga is aimed at a wedding ceremony including your involvement, I would think this position will be acceptable. Contact the Customs division of our Ministry of Finance and Economic Management to clarify the details - info@mfem.co.ck

Hopefully you wont have any issues at the border, or need to pay any excise.

Also, scroll through the various threads on this forum to perhaps send a private message to other posters who discussed relevant wedding information on the forum. Are you working through a wedding planner here on Rarotonga? Your planner could likely advise you.

All the best for your wedding plans. Kia manuia.
