Mendenhall Glacier

We will be there in early June on Princess cruise from 7am to 4.

We woul like to see the glacier and ride the Roberts tram. Are both doable? Hop e to take hike to waterfall.

What is best way to get to glacier? Are there available buses to take us to parking lot? Seen city bus drops off mile and half away.

Thanks for help

Don't take the city bus.......there will be blue MGT buses that will pick you up at the docks and take you to Mendenhall Glacier......$16 pp round trip.....they run every 30 minutes, so hike to the waterfall, check out the Visitors Center and catch the next bus back when you are ready........

There should be plenty of time to do that plus ride the Mt Roberts Tram......

Yes, you can do the glacier and the tram in your timeframe. I would only take the tram if it is a clear day.

Depending how early you want to start your day, you may want to take a taxi to Mendenhall. Port times are short and the MGT bus doesn't start running until 9:00 a.m. I would maximize my time and head out in a taxi and get there before the big crowds.

Below are some links you should find helpful as you plan your time in Mendenhall. I strongly recommend the Visitor Center. It is excellent. It opens at 8:00 a.m. in the summer.

How long is the hike to the waterfall? Is it the Nugget Creek trail? That one says 5 hours, is it really 5 hours to the waterfall?

It would be more like about 15 minutes I would have thought.

We did the trail earlier this summer with our 14 year old boys and it only took 15 minutes to get to the falls.

The official Forest Service estimate for a round trip to the waterfall is 45 minutes.
