We are a party of 2 (husband and wife 50s) travelling with Princess cruises. Want to fit in as much as possible on Alaskan cruise. We arrive at 8am in Juneau and sale at 9pm. Plan at Juneau is Mendenhall Glacier, hike to Nugget Falls, back to town, lunch, ride Mount Roberts Tramway if not foggy, whale watch evening trip 5-8.30 (this is booked through cruise line as late trip -we sail at 9pm)
As the blue buses don't start running until 9am to Mendenhall (I believe) we are considering catching a taxi there to make the best use of our time and get there early before the crowds. Does anyone know the current taxi costs and whether we should book a taxi in advance or whether we can just pick one up quickly and easily when we get off the ship? We think there may be a number of touts for our business but don't want to get confused by the selection and want to walk straight to a taxi to maximise time. Does anyone have any recommendations which firm to use / contact details? Any comments on the feasibility of our intentions and time scales involved?
