We are experienced travelers who will be on an extended vacation to Asia in April 2013. Although we will be spending some time in Beijing on our own later during our trip, the cruise we are going on also docks for three days at Tianjin port. Rather than going on more cruise excursions or overnights to Beijing, I am interested in using a private guide for one or two days to try and fit in one or more of the following activities: (1) 3 hour hike on Jinshanking wall (prefer that area if possible to Huangyaguan) , (2) about 5 hours of siteseeing at the principal temples and the mountain resort at Chengde; and (3) 2 hour visit to eastern Qing tombs . It is difficult to judge actual travel times so which of these things could be done with a good driver/guide in a long day with an early start from the cruise terminal? Would Tianjin to Chengde require an overnight? Is there a good Tianjin based guide who could provide the hiking and other activities for me? Any advice would be appreciated.
