Taxi from Tianjin Cruise Port to Tianjin Railway Station?

Hello Fellow Travelers!

We are stopping in Tianjin on the Celebrity Millennium for 3 days and want to catch the bullet train into Beijing. Does any one know how much the taxi would cost from the Tianjin Port to the Tianjin Station? We do not want the hassle of going through Tanggu so will drive straight to Tianjin Station.

Also, how hard is it for non-Chinese speakers to buy tickets at the station?

Many thanks!

Thanks again for your help.

We are now looking at getting a private car from the Port to Tianjin Station. We have room for 2 more people and it would be US$27/pp. We would like to be arriving in Beijing before 10:30am, so leaving the ship at approx 7am.

Let me know if you are keen to join!

Not sure if this is useful info.... Are you having a stopover in Tianjin, therefore need to get back to the ship - if so, keep reading....

We got a taxi from our hotel in Tianjin to the port. First it took a while to find a taxi that had an empty boot to fit our luggage (ie no gas tank or chicken crates) and then to find a taxi driver that knew where to go....

Our taxi driver still got lost, more than once, he had to stop and ask people - he actually had no idea... but we did get there eventually.

We went on meter and from memory paid about 250rmb

In all, the above wasn't a problem as we had allowed a LOT of time!

Forgot to mention, train tickets are easy to get from Tianjin to Beijing without speaking any Chinese, fast trains go often. You need your passport.

H, Im also on the Oct 12 Celebrity Millennium cruise. Have you decided on your transfer from Tianjin Port to Beijing? Im thinking of taking the bullet train. Also, may I suggest, you join the Cruise Critic roll call for Celebrity Millennium so you chat in advance with the fellow passenger. Some are also organising tour excursion. Here's the link http://www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls.

Thanks.

Just a word of warning we were on the Celebrity Millenium in April doing the reverse trip,i.e Hong Kong to Shanghai.Customs clearance in Beijing took hours,we didn't get off the ship until gone 10.30 am,and do remember that those choosing Celebrity excursions get preference over those doing their own trips,if,and I don't know your schedule,is the same as ours, then you will not be getting into Beijing by 10.30am.We travelled by taxi to Tanggu and got the 1.05 train,it cost 100 yuan(approx £10 sterling)train tickets were easy to purchase and you must have your passport. If thinking about going by taxi to Tianjin please be aware of how far it is,many taxis do not know the way there and are reluctant to go unless well compensated, luggage space is very limited, enough for two small pieces of hand luggage.Hope this is of some use.

Thanks for the info cabmanHerts. That's what I have been searching, how long will it take to disembark from Tianjin port. Did the ship arrive on time in Beijing at 6AM?

Hi. the ship will arrive on time, generally they are always early, but you will on be able to disembark as per ship arrangements. When we disembarked one could walk off with your luggage as soon as you were advised that disembarkation could start. It may depend on the ship. We opted to take a booked transfer from ship rather than taxi. It is quite a lot more than taxi and train fare, however there is little waiting and no negotiation of taxi fare or trying to buy train ticket. If deciding to take bullet train back to Beijing, purchase the ticket before embarkation - there are not many trains up to Beijing, The taxi travel time to Tanggu is about 30 mins. Not worth going to Tianjin to catch train. We took at least an hour to get through customs even though we were on the ships booked transfer.

Hi, we are also on the Millennium but on the outward voyage from Tokyo to Shanghai, docking in Tianjin on Oct 7th. Currently investigating the possibility of organising a private transfer to /tour of Beijing, directly from the port with one overnight stay in a hotel. There do seem to be a few companies which offer this at greatly reduced cost to the Celebrity rip off cost. Would anyone be interested in joining us if we find a good deal? ( we would be going for.a fairly upmarket hotel!)
