Beaches

Can anybody say what the beaches are like in Kovalam, I know there are no shacks but restaurants. Are there sunbeds and umbrellas to rent. Are sellars allowed on the beaches?

Hi

Sellers have been banned from the beach itself but are allowed on the promenade, this was an arrangement suggested to the local police by the Kovalam hotel and restaurant association as many tourists complained about the constant hassle from hawkers whilst trying to relax on the beach.

There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available plus body boards for surfing.

Hope this helps

Regards

Ian

Hi JMH

The sunbeds are owned and run by independent operators and cost around 250-300INR per day for both bed and Umbrella. food and drink is readily available from local restaurants and can be brought to the sun bed for you.

Ian
