first timers

Looking for some advice...me and my partner are off to dalyan a week Monday and wanted some tips off the frequent visitors. We are curious about how much money to take and where to eat?shop? To avoid? We are staying in a self catered villa so eating in and out is possible.

Hi Loz,

Welcome to the forum! Dalyan is a self catering paradise so I'm sure you'll both have an amazing time :)

Spends is a difficult one as you can enjoy Dalyan whatever your budget might be...here are two threads from this year for two very different budgets (bear in mind though that the exchange rate is now 3 lira to the £)

Personally, we budget around £80-£100 per day between the two of us and this allows us to have meals in and out, a couple of trips/days out, a beer or two in the afternoon and drinks at night without having to count the pennies.

Have a great holiday :)

Welcome to the forum liverpool_loz and congratulations on choosing a little corner of Paradise for your holiday! If you put "how much money" into the search bar above, you will get lots of answers to your questions about spending money, which has been discussed quite recently. Similarly, search for "good restaurants" or "where to eat" to get lots of opinions on eating out. Dalyan forumites are passionate about their food so you will find plenty of advice on this topic! Dalyan has several supermarkets as well as traditional butchers, bakers, grocery shops etc so you will find everything you need for self-catering. There are lots of tourist shops, clothing and bag shops as well as a fantastic Saturday market (food and clothes, DVDs, shoes etc etc) so enjoy browsing and don't forget to haggle! :-)

Hi loz,

You must obviously do the 'public boat' to the beach. Good free facilities for changing rooms/loos/shower/ also cafe and sunbeds at very reasonable prices.

Also worth taking the Dolmus, to the Turtle Sanctuary at the other end of the beach. Again facilities.

Perhaps join a daytrip boat that takes in the ruined city, or maybe a midnight cruise on the lake. The midnight cruise takes a stop at the mudbaths and includes a boat meal and drifting around the lake/swimming/star gazing. Brilliant!

Check out for Dolmus trip to Fethiye on market day. Huge market...and good walk along the harbour to the backstreets for shaded places to eat. Lots of jewellers, both copy and real stuff.

Haggle and Enjoy, Mx.
