Paul Gaugin coming next week - what to do?

We will have been at sea for nearly 48 hours so might like some dry land under our feet. The ship excursion is "Le Truck" round the island. We prefer not to be in groups. Are there any options or should we just go snorkelling? Thanks in anticipation.

Fakarava has all of 15 km road on the main motu,.... so it won't be a big island tour.... apart from the village and old "phare" as a few people selling pearls not much to see. Enjoy the snorkling and pretty lagoon... :)

When you get off the ship you could rent a bike and see the island in a blink:)

As Poehere said snorkeling is the thing to do.

Enjoy your cruise:)

Poehere what is the name of the restaurant as you walk to the right when you get off the ship and go all the way to the end?

We got bikes and loved it. Really pretty place. We thought they would be rentable at the pier but we had to hunt them out a bit. For future readers we got them at Relais Marama (may be others). Take the left hand road inland opposite the pier then first right after the school - about 100 metres on left. Charming. Pedal backwards for brakes!

I agree with the others. I would rent a bicycle and also do some snorkeling. We also enjoyed the tour at the Hinano Pearl Farm. It was interesting to see how pearls are made, and they have some beautiful items. I did a piece on Fakarava here:
