Are you likely to see the Big Five in Addo Park (or just elephants) in March?

I doubt you will see a leopard, you will probably see lions but you would need to take an organised game drive as they are allowed away from the official roads, and can drive deep into the bush where the lions tend to hide

The rhinos are mostly nocturnal therefore difficult to see during the day, although recently a car was charged by a rhino early in morning.

It is worth visiting the Addo park and one of the surrounding big 5 private game reserves.

I like elephants and can happily watch them for hours on a hot sunny day you should see loads I saw at least a 100 when I was there a week ago and they get very close

Colin is incorrect. No vehicles are allowed off the roads in Addo.

75% chance of seeing buffalo.

40% chance of seeing lion. A night drive increases your chances.

10% chance of seeing rhino. Do a sunset drive or maybe an early morning drive or stay overnight to increase your chances of seeing rhino. They are black rhino, the real member of the Big 5, so it is far more special to see them than white rhino. Addo is the only place that I have ever seen black rhino.

0.0001% chance of seeing leopard.

I go to Addo 4-6 times a year, I was there yesterday, in fact, but I never think of them as JUST elephants.

Thanks Lamlee. I've been looking at various threads and your detailed advice is very helpful.

I've contacted several reserves today and am waiting to hear back from most.

One that has replied is Blaauwbosch. It looks very good - do you have any thoughts?

Also taken with Schotia but am yet to hear back from them. A good place?
