Accomodation for one night ?

I am arriving in Joburg in mid October at 5am and leaving the following day for Zimbabwe on the evening flight. Could anyone give me advice on reasonably priced Hotels, and transport, where to stay that is close to shopping at Sandton City and best way to get to and from hotel and shopping.

You can catch the Gautrain from the airport to Sandton City and there are a number of hotels at Sandton city. Have a look at "Garden Court Sandton City". It will be the cheapest one. It's about 2 blocks from the station and across the road from Sandton square/Sandton City.

Hi TeenaB

Thank you for your reply would it be possible to tell me how easy it is to get your luggage on and off the Gautrain? I will be arriving with one large suitcase and a small on board one. Would I be better off putting my large case in storage at the airport?

Thank you so much all your advice is welcomed.

The Sandton Gautrain station is underground, so you'll have to manage the escalators to the exit with your luggage.

With one night only in Sandton, looks like the airport storage is your best bet.

It is very easy to use Gautrain with 2 cases. I have used it several times with 1 large heavy case, a cabin size case and laptop case.

There is a lift as well as escalators.

The Guards on board will help you lift your cases onto the train if you cannot manage. There is space to wheel your cases immediately next to the doors of the train.

The Gautrain is great. No need to store your cases at the airport.
