how long is drive to kruger from johannesburg.

best option to fly from kruger to any where in garden route.

my concern is that i am very claustrophobic.so cannot take any small planes.i would rather drive down.

HI

We have done the north for 30 days and just finished a trip in the south for another 30days.

I think best is to fly to Port Elisabeth but from where in the north i am not sure if you have to go back to JB.

The garden rout is lovely, but i guess it can be quite cold in may.

in cape there is plenty do the , table mountain, cape point the harbour.

It really depends on the weather.

hope you have fun

Your trip seems very rushed. The drive to Kruger is roughly 5-6 hours depending on where you are staying.

It is a long way to go to spend 2 nights. Is there a way you can amend your trip to spend at least 3 nights in Kruger?

You may want to consider flying out from Nelspruit after Kruger to save some time.

Hope this helps.

I would choose Kruger over Shamwari. From Kruger Park (Nelspruit airport KMIA) after 2/3 nights in Kruger, fly to Cape Town, then either take a tour/self drive up the Garden for 4 nights and end in Cape Town for 3 nights.

There are tours available up the Garden Route which start and end in Cape Town. Cape Town is a lovely destination and May can be lovely weather there (no guarantee but normally very nice).

Great advice from Lyn and Heeten, do not skip Kruger because your travel agent says so, and yes try to stay longer, this will give you so many more options. Has your travel agent been ?

Do not skip Kruger.

In fact, if I were you, I would try to spend longer there, if possible. It is Amazing.

Ouch! Not often do you hear agents making a suggestion like this. Did you agent give a reason for this recommendation?

Hi Alok, What time you arrive at Joburg? If possible take a connecting flight to Nelspruit. So you leave 1 night in Joburg (nothing much to do ) and take 3 nights in Kruger. If budget allows 2 nights in private reserve. Then from Nelspruit fly to George. Take 3 nights in Knysna and 1 night in Oudtshoorn. Drive to CT. Remaining time in Cape Town. Cape Town has lot to offer..You can also reduce 1 night in Knysna and add that to Cape Town. If you like adventure shark cage diving is must in Hermanus. And then fly back..

Gavin, I was so expecting your reply with the list. But if you compare getting 3 nights in Kruger or 2 night in Kruger and 1 night in Joburg, what will you choose? And obviously having 1 day in Joburg who can visit one or 2 attraction out of the list. So I think it is worth taking 3 night in Kruger and get the once in life time experience of Kruger rather than getting to hotel in joburg for 1 night and than going back to airport to catch plane. As such after 10 hours of flight (night is in flight) person is tired to explore anything on same day.
