Couple of hours in Johannesburg

We have a couple of hours in Johannesburg between the flights. We have about four - four and half hours net (totally it's 7.5 hours between the flights but we need time for arrival and departure procedures and check-in). It will be Wednesday and it the middle of the day (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM).

What is more recommended ?

We thought of going to Sandton with the train. Is there only big malls or also some beautiful squares ?

In additon we though to go to Randburg Waterfront. Is it recommended and how far by raxi from Sandton (and what is the taxi price to go there ) ?

Or maybe better taking the tour to ALexandra township from Sandton instead of Randburg Waterfront ? Is it safe and what tour guide recommended ? A saw in the internet bike tours there. Is itr only by bikes ?

Soweto we undestand is far and we will not have time to visit .

All of it sounds so simple.. Here are the Gautrain fares - http://join.gautrain.co.za/Fares.aspx

R125PP each way to and from Sandton amounts to a total of $75US. 265 Shekels. Rosebank is a little more than Sandton. Plus the taxi to and from Melrose Arch, if you go there, too. I like Rosebank myself. Mandela Square would take 5 minutes to see, more if you go into the (often) pretentious shops.

I would like to thank all people that answered.

Now I have two options:

1. Sandton (Nelson Mandela Sq.) and Montecassino from there. How long is the drive by taxi ? Is it worth a visit in a weekday early afternoon and is it lively (Montecasino)

2. Melrose Arch via Rosebank or Sandton (how long it takes by taxi or bus from Rosebank).

What is more recommended for 4-4.5 hours in a weekday afternoon ?We would like to visit lively and safe places (but not very crowded).

Hello, if you want to go from Sandton to Montecasino there is a Gautrain bus which you could use, look at the website for Gautrain to get the timetable.
