Domestic to International Flight transfer times?

Hi

We have a Lufthansa flight LH573 to Frankfurt leaving 19:40 terminal A and wondered if we should book the Kulula CPT-JNB flight arriving 16:35 or the flight that arrives 14:45? Whilst I appreciate the 16:35 flight would allow around 3 hours to collect bags then go through the bag drop and security, would that leave to little time if we hit any long queues?

Thanks very much for your help

It should be enough time, however keep in mind there is often a further security check before the international flights boarding gate. Best to make sure you get to the gate well before boarding time, so 3 hrs for me would be minimum. If in doubt and for peace of mind allowing for possible delays take the 14.45 flight then relax, maybe do some duty free shopping or go to one of the lounges associated with that airline and pass time in comfort.

Qantas, for example, had a separate security check for QF 64 Joburg- Sydney my trip before last and the queue at that boarding gate was horrendous as it was a full flight.Lucily we had priority boarding but we had no idea this was going to happen at the time, so always expect the unexpected..... I think you should be ok though with that time frame.

Thanks for your replies. To add a little detail we are travelling with children and so are trying to keep the time needed in the airport as brief as is necessary without running the risk of missing flight, thanks

Am confident as much as one can be you will be OK unless a major hiccup unforeseen and yes with children why tarry. Enjoy ~~
