Staying near durban. Help

Looking to sty in area for 5 nights rest before flying back to UK. Want to stay in Durban area to cut down on travelling. Choice of Beverley Hills Hotel at unhlanga Rocks or the Selborne Hotel Spa which is just South rather than North of Durban ( not sure what else would be there). Does anyone know what to do in terms of location, I know the price will be different but more concerned with safety and peace & Quiet!! Any views appreciated.

Hi Luja

Umhlanga Rocks would be my recommendation as it has beautiful beaches, great restaurants and fantastic shopping plus it's safe to walk around.

Have you considered splitting the 5 days? You mention that you want a rest but maybe you could spend 3 night in durbs and 2 nights in northern kzn at a reserve or by St Lucia?

Have you searched the reviews for any opinions of Beverly Hills Hotel? I havent stayed there so cant comment.

Have a great trip.

Hi Luja, can't tell where you are but maybe not far from us!

We have stayed a little further up from there in the Ballito/Salt Rock area as we have found the beaches are much quieter, usually only us and a couple of people walking their dogs. There are also some very nice places to eat in Ballito shopping mall and by the beach and also in Salt Rock. There are also loads of things to do in the area.

Like Umhlanga it is a very affluent area and we felt safe all the time there, just be careful as you would in Birmingham!

For places to stay take a look at sa-venues.com/attractionskzn/kzn_dolphincoas…

Best regards

The Beverley Hills is beautiful and right on the beach. You can either lounge by the pool and look at the sea or use one of the hotel loungers on the beach.

The hotel is on the Umhlanga promenade which runs the length of the beachfront and is great to stroll along when its not too hot.

If you want to chill and work on your tan at the same time then this is the place to be.

The hotel restaurants are also great and just across the road is a wonderful French/Mauritian Restaurant called ILLe Maurice.
