Volunteer Work

My daughter is 17 and is looking to do some volunteer work this summer holidays on a wildlife reserve. Look at various companys and found prices high. She has a budget of around £1500 and wants to go for at least 6 weeks. Any ideas anyone?

Hi Janie

You can contact Simon Morgan from the Wildlife African Conservation Team - he will definitely be able to offer expert assistance. His email address is simon@wildlifeact.com

I'm sure your daughter will have a great time!

If she's interested in chimps (even if just for part of the experience), there's volunteer opportunities at Chimp Eden that are not expensive. It's not far from Kruger. I'm actually going to volunteer there in March for 2 weeks and will be going to Kruger right after for safari. I communicated with a girl who already volunteered there (she stayed one month) who really enjoyed the experience.

I can highly rate Moholoholo!

We visited this establishment which was recommended by local in the area and did the 2 hour tour which was extremely informative and inspiring. We met the volunteers which were mainly girls who are all very passionate about this cause.

Hi, looked at the site and it looks great but it states you need to be 18 to apply.

Thanks for all the replys.

Janie, seeing that your daughter is 17 I would still enquire if she is keen.

You can send an email to students@maholoholo.co.za and the person to contact is Alice.
