Dress code and clothing requirements Timbavati in November

We will be spending 4 nights at a private lodge in Timbavati in November.

Trying to work out what I need to buy in terms of clothes. I don't really have any traditional safari type clothes, in fact my casual trousers are limited to jeans.

Will I need long trousers for game drives and during the day? Are shorts acceptable?

What is generally worn for dinner in the evening?

I was thinking of buying a pair or two of long cargo style trousers and several t-shirts in earth colours. I don't want to spend to much money on clothes I'll not really wear again.

Will it be cold on morning drives such that more than a sweater will be needed? I don't really have any sweatshirts, is a wool jumper ok?

What about foot wear? Would running trainers and socks be ok? These are the only closed shoes I really have.

I'm female if that makes any difference.

I just returned from a private lodge in Timbavati. There was no dress code and no one had safari clothing. You wear what you want to be comfortable and you can wear bright yellow or pink if you want, and you can wear it to dinner. No one cares. We wore shorts most of the time and otherwise jeans. Most folks took a sweater/jumper/ sweatshirt on the game drives, at least in the morning since you go out at about 6:00 am , but there are also blankets for each person on the drives should you get cold--and it will be warmer in Nov. than currently. Wear whatever you want on your feet, including sandals. The only exception is that if you are going walking then you should have some more subdued colors and closed toed shoes (trainers are fine).

In November you are unlikely to need long pants, unless you wish to wear light long pants in the evenings to keep the mosquitos away. I would only pack one light long pants, one jumper and light jacket, and the rest shorts and t-shirts. But then again, my wife would probably pack twice as much... It is likely to be hot! As practicality said, there is no dress code at safari lodges. Running trainers and socks are fine. Bring open sandals as well. And swimwear.

Have fun!
