Overnight hides

Anyone stayed in either of the overnight hides (Sable or Shipandani)? Would value any comments on them. We are experienced safari travellers and basic accommodation is fine. Wondered about the overall experience.

A great experience. We stayed at Shipandani a few weeks ago.Quite comfortable. If at all possible try to book around full moon and have a strong flashlight. There is a compost toilet, a braai area with braai stand and table and chairs. Check in at Mopani, pay a key deposit and staff will deliver the bedding late in the afternoon and collect next morning. You need to be packed up early next morning when it re-opens for the public.

We had hippo climbing out of the water only a few metres from the hide.

Have not used Sable but they get good wildlife sighting whilst the animals come to the dam during the night. Only slight downside is the lights and a bit of noise sometimes apparent from nearby Phalaborwa town and mine.

Thanks. We try to something different each time we visit and I will definitely try to book one of the hides overnight. Don't mind the early start as we like to be up and about on safari.
