Idube or Umkumbe?

Which one would you recommend for better viewing of the Big 5 and natural beauty and serenity of their surroundings?

Many thanks.

I would definitely recommend Umkumbe, the game viewing is outstanding and both have thick bushveld in some areas. Being in that environment is like nothing else on earth. The smell of the bush, air thick with animals scents, and the noises of zebras barking, snorting OR just no noise at all. No car sounds, people, just miles and miles of bush, absolutely stunning. Enjoy

Thanks, Lyn!

And if you were to compare Umkumbe with Nkorho?

Many thanks.

Hi there,

I would also recommend Umkumbe - The view from there is absolutely majestic! We had a good time there on our site inspection. Homely cooking, clean & comfortable rooms, and a fantastic ranger - all coupled with affordable Sabi Sands accommodation.

All the best,

Hi,

Umkumbe and Idube are practically neighbours in the Sabi Sand Reserve, so both will give you a superb game viewing experience. Nkorho is in the northern part of the Reserve, and the density of lodges here is slightly less than in the southern part - upside is fewer vehicles, downside of fewer vehicles means fewer rangers calling in the various sightings!

I would say any of the lodges will give you a great safari and very comfortable accommodation, so ultimately the decision will come down to price, as they are all at different price points - Umkumbe being the least expensive, then Nkorho, and then Idube.

Thank you, Tracey!

I am in between Nkorho and Inyati. More leaning toward Inyati...

I heard that Nkorho doesn't have airconditioning. Is that still the case I wonder? And also heard that Inyati's setting is more beautiful naturewise...

Is that true? Is Inyati the better option do you think?

Many thanks.

Inyati does indeed have a wonderful setting, on the banks of the Sand River...absolutely beautiful! ....and the game viewing is as good as at Idube, as they share game viewing traversing region. Both are options that I would consider.

I would agree with Tanya - Inyati has a lovely setting. When I was there, I sat on their river deck, and you could see and hear the lions roaring on the bank opposite, there was a pod of hippos in the river, and just generally it is an idyllic setting.

You will have a lovely time here, I am sure!

Nkorho has an unusual asset few places can match - the Manageress. She went there as a guest some years back, and essentially just stayed. I have met few people in this business with the unique commitment she has to her guests, and I guess because she feels they really are HER guests. Their reserve is literally next to Kruger and benefits from Kruger wildlife that wanders over to their big waterhole, which is in full view of the lodge. I would recommend a stay at Nkorho to anyone.

Having said that, Inyati is also one my favorite value for money lodges. I don't suppose this helps you at all, as you decide which one.
