Just returned from a fantastic 3 week trip to South Africa to enjoy the world cup. Fortunately just about everything went to plan and I loved the country.
The only accommodation that disappointed was the Global Village Guesthouse, Nelspruit.
1. Arrived at guesthouse to be told that we had booked our room the night before. Fortunately had our confirmation - they then agreed they had made a mistake
2. Said that they would put us up in their "sister inn" which proved to be a unfinished house. No sheets or running water, nevermind our concerns for security. Due to a world cup game, the town was booked solid and we had little choice but to stay there
3. No breakfast
4. Went back to the Global Village guesthouse in the morning for a refund. Argued with reception for 30 minutes before finally being able to speak to the owner (Geoffery) on the phone. He agreed to a refund but said he could not reverse our credit card transaction but would deposit the money into our bank that evening.
5, Two weeks later of phonecalls and emails and no refund, just 1200 rand lighter for the experience.
What sort of business operates like this ....
