Driving from Drakensberg to Nelspruit--worth it?

Hi, I'm trying to finalize my itinerary for next month. We'll be in northern Lesotho, and then need to get to Nelspruit airport for our safari transfer. My question: Is it worth it to drive from Lesotho and/or the Drakensberg all the way to Nelspruit? Is there anything to see? Are the roads okay and is it safe? How much time should we budget for this?

Or should we just drive back to Jo'berg and take the short flight to Nelspruit (not the most cost effective)? Another option is driving to Bloemfontein and flying to Nelspruit (even more expensive, but the least amount of driving).

Many thanks!

The roads are fine and safe to drive. Much depends on where you are driving from as to the times needed but from JHB you need about 4 hrs to drive it.

Nice and easy as well because once you are on the right road there are nearly no turns to be made.

By the time that you have driven to an airport, booked on, waited for the flight etc it might be the same time to drive.

A lot of the roads in the area are not in a good condition with a lot of potholes and animals on it, but if you stay on the main roads it should be fine - try to stick to the national roads, starting with a N. From where you are now to JHB is about 3 hours drive, and then from JHB to Nelspruit another 4-5 hours.
