help with planning two night trip from cape town

This is our trip so far-- we are flying into Johannesburg- spending one night and then going to Madikwe for 3 nights, flying to cape town, spending 5 nights in cape town and than we have 3 more days before we have to fly from cape town to Jo'burg and then home. We are in Cape Town to visit our daughter who is studying there and want to take her away for our last weekend. We will also have our 16 year old with us, so I am not sure about the winelands-- suggestions??

Rather depends on your interests but staying in the Winelands is lovely - and there is more than just wine! Great scenery, good restaurants and historically interesting places such as Stellenbosch.

The Robertson Valley is another option

If you just want a 'get away from it all' relaxing stay then look at Paternoster on the West Coast.

If you enjoy driving then you could go as far as say Oudtshoorn via the R62, while there a trip over the Swartberg pass to Prince Albert, visit an ostrich farm and the Cango caves.

Thanks- we do not want to do too much driving and we enjoy nature and outdoor semi-adventurous activities- kayaking, hiking, etc. Do you know anything about the area around the Klein River Lagoon??

Well I think that would be ideal! Lots of outdoor adventure activities available there.

Stanford is a pleasant village, with a particularly great restaurant for lunch called Marianas.

Close by is a brewery, several good wineries and a good cheese farm

The drive along the coast from Cape Town to Hermanus is quite spectacular
