We propose staying in Kirstenhof, Cape Town and would like to know if anyone has been there - is it isolated or close to the centre of Cape Town?

Do you mean by any chance Kirstenbosch? It is about 15 minutes (outside peak rush hour) from the city centre by car. Wonderful location - very lush and lots of trees, although the sun disappear behind the mountain quite early. Top quality accommodation and restaurants in this area

Kirstenhof is a middle-class residential suburb in the southern suburbs of Cape Town not far from Muizenberg but a good 30-40 minutes from the center of the city and the Waterfront. I am reasonably sure there are no hotels in Kirstenhof so you must be looking at B & b's.

if you are looking for something a bit more central, I rented a self catering cottage/apartment in Tokai, right opposite the Steenberg Golf Estate - prices exceptionally reasonable, worked out to about £35 per day(yes, thats for the cottage, not per person) and can sleep up to 4 people. Owners live on the premises and there is secure parking for car (handy) and shop just across the road- 10 minutes to the Constantia wine farms and just 15 minutes to Muizenberg Beach - www.highlandscottage.co.za

Tokai and Kirstenhof are adjacent suburbs. You can walk from one to the other.
