Can anyone recommend a good guest house/b&b/self catering apartment they've stayed at in Camps Bay? Many thanks!

i had a hard time finding anything mid-range in camps bay. do NOT, i repeat, do not stay at the whale cottage (any of them). the service is terrible, and you'll regret it. so if you're looking for cheaper options than what y9ou can find via the link given by another reader, you might want to look in the city or hout bay.

Last year we stayed above Camps Bay - very hilly residential district - at the

Atlantic View - rather expensive but really very nice.

Next Feb we are staying in C Bay again, this time at a guesthouse called Auberge Du Lac.

We stayed in four different guesthouses across SA last year and would not bother to stay in 'hotels' The standards are very good, very clean, comfortable and good breakfasts and personal service

Also, in Hout Bay - other side of C Town is a place called the Hout Bay Hideaway which looked very nice - all on websites

Good planning ABK

Camps Bay Terrrace, a disgraceful place. We are an elderly couple who

stayed there in November 2005 and disagree with the other writer, not

recommended at all. We had the unfortunate

pleasure one evening of catching a glimpse of the owners blonde son

behaving badly with a black member of staff in the pool. We have never

seen such behaviour anywhere and were very very embarassed. The neighboring guest house owners saw this from their windows also. There are

other nicer places to stay in Camps Bay and

we moved on to one or two of them. One was the other property you

mentioned which was worth every penny. They have 5 stars and the finish,

service and views knock the spots off the other which has a 4 star

grading and deserves none in our opinion.

Atlanticview-What fabulous hospitality. As we share pictures and memories with friends it reminds us of what a great trip it truly was...and it couldn't have been the same at any other location. Rates were worth every penny! Kansas City Newleyweds

I've seen some really mixed reviews of the Whale cottage properties - For example there is a damning review describing theft from a room safe of the Camps Bay Whale Cottage that's just been posted on the main tripadvsor site.

My problem is that I'm struggling to get accommodation for a Thursday and Friday in early Feb in Camps bay and have been offered a room at the Bakoven Whale Cottage - would this be a really bad idea ?
