Flights booked 20.4. - 6.5. accommodation advice appreciated

We are first time visitors to Cape Town and would appreciate some local advice as like others on the forum we are overwhelmed by the choice of accommodation.

1. Any recommendations on B & B or guest houses in Camps Bay / Sea Point areas around £100 p.n?

2. Any recommendations on the same type of accommodation along the Garden Route?

3. We would like to visit Addo Game Reserve but are reluctant to stay at the private game lodges as they are so expensive. Is it possible to stay just outside the park and drive in for day visits? We used to live in Rhodesia in the 70's near Wankie Game Reserve where we could do this!!

3. Is it feasible to drive back from there to Cape Town or better to fly back considering the amount of time we have?

We would greatly appreciate any advice,

Pam

Hi Pam. Can strongly recommend Entabeni Guest House in Camps Bay. It is run by Peter & Margie & their son Brendon. They also originate from Rhodesia!!!! Don't let that put you off!

We've stayed there several times, most recently for the first 10 days of this year. It's a real home from home in a perfect location with a pool & great views. It's situated in a quiet cul de sac at the foot of Table Mountain.

Assuming that your driving down Route 62, can strongly recommend 7 Church Street in Montagu & Amanzi Island Lodge in Knysna.

We've spent a day in Addo whilst staying in PE so that's easily do - able. I'd definitely fly back form PE to CPT

Nick

Excellent that at least one British poster, on these forums, cares about getting their grammar correct!

Hi Nick,

We are so grateful to you for your suggestions. We have just had bookings confirmed for 7 Church Street, Montagu and Amanzi Lodge in Knysna which looks fabulous.

We are still undecided about where to stay in Cape Town as Camps Bay looks a little expensive. Any other ideas not too far from the centre of town?

In appreciation,

Pam

Fish Eagle Lodge in Knysna is very good value for money and it is overlooking the Lagoon

on the garden route, i would recommend : classicalview guesthouse at Dana Bay, 10 minutes from Mossel Bay. At Plettenberg Bay : Emily's restaurant and they have 6 or 8 rooms. At St Francis Bay : iLollo Lodge. At Addo : Gerald's gift House. 10 minutes from Addo Elephant Park. On the way back i suggest you to drive rte 62 in 2 days, you can stop at Oudsthoorn for a night.

VdeC.

I'm old enough to have been taught English correctly unlike today's product.

It's just a shame that TA has such a short window during which one is able to amend a post

Pam,

Glad you're nearly sorted. Please say hi to May at 7 Ch St & Helen & Sue at Amanzi.

Nick & Melanie

PS It might be worth phoning Margie at Entabeni. Once she hears your family history she might give you a discount!!

Hi Nick and Melanie,

We have just booked Entabeni Guest House so I guess that makes it a Hat Trick!!!

We have also booked the Happy Jackal just outside Addo Game Reserve which looks wonderful.

Thanks again for all your help. Will pass on your regards to all three proprietors.

We can't wait for our holiday now that it's all booked!!

Kind regards

Pam and Laurence
