Thanks Capensis. Good Links.
Dining-out is very good, as it usually gives you good pictures, a priced menu and maps of where the restaurant is. However it is a subscription site and all the description is submitted by the establishment.
Also look at Eat-Out : http://www.eatout.co.za/home/index.asp
This is a more independent site and gives restaurant news and other articles. It also posts real customer reviews - mostly from locals. As always be a bit wary of negative reviews - posters typically like to make everything negative when they have just had one small problem. Look at the balance of the reviews.
I tend to use both sites in tandem.
Of course there are also TA Reviews. Click on the Restaurants link to the left. IMO this suffers the opposite - reviews are not critical enough as, often, posters have only eaten in one or two restaurants in Cape Town.
With all these - plus, of course, this forum, you should be able to get a good idea if a restaurant will suit you!Edited: 10 March 2010, 08:41
