If the weather conditions are ok then it will operate on Christamas Day. You can pre book here: www.webtickets.co.za/event.aspx?itemid=681080

Hi there

The cableway treats Christmas as any other day as in it is weather dependent so if the weather is good enough the cableway will be open!!

Bear in mind that if it is going to be hot and clear(as it often is on Christmas in Cape Town)then the queue will be long so go early ;they open at 8am

Maybe consider eating at the restaurant on top because unless you've made a reservation for a restaurant already,it is a pain trying to find a meal out on christmas day!

Thats great. We will plan to go early and get a taxi from our hotel.

We arrive Christmas eve and haven't booked a restaurant for Christmas Day.

Any suggestions?

Hi rocksnake

Maybe it's better to put this in a different thread or start up a new one. Your question doesn't seem to be about Table Mountain - or even Christmas!

To get back on-topic the restaurant at the top of Table Mountain is pretty basic. Really just a self-service cafe. Maybe not the best choice for Christmas Lunch!

If you leave for the mountain reasonably early (best anyway to avoid the queues) you will be back down into the city in plenty of time to get to somewhere for a more special Christmas Lunch in the sun - assume that you don't experience too many summer Christmases!

You will need to book though.

How about Christmas Lunch on a wine estate?

Bistro1682 at Steenberg wine estate in Constantia is about 25 mins drive from the cableway. Wonderful views across the vineyards (I am SURE it will be sunny!) and excellent food. Special Christmas Luch Menu at R425 pp - R75 for under 12s.
