Top 3 safaris not to be missed

We are doing Sabi Sand and will be making various stops at different ports. What would be 1 or 2 other safaris not to be missed. We will stop at East London, Durban, Richard's Bay, and Mombasa/Kenya.

Thanks.

Sounds like a cruise trip, so I'm not sure how you will get to Sabi Sand because that is quite a distance from Durban or Richard's Bay. But it is possible, there is a daily flight from Durban to Nelspruit so you can easily visit the Sabi Sand, which along with the Kruger National Park is South Africa's top safari destination. But I also agree with the additional destinations miki mentioned.

Enjoy!

We are flying into Joburg first and then fly into Nelspruit to get to Sabi Sand. There are many game drive excursions being offered at these ports and we are trying to decide if they are worth taking after a 4N-5D safari stay.

In Kenya, is the suggested site doable from the port? Thanks.

After a 4 night / 5 day safari, I don't think the game drives or one day safari excursions offered from the ports you mentioned will be able to match what you experienced in the Sabi Sand. In Kenya, the Masai Mara is far away from Mombasa and you would have to fly in. I think you would need to consider a 3 night stay to make it worth the expense of traveling there. More likely, safari trips from Mombasa will focus on Tsavo East National Park, but even there you should at least spend a night to make it worth it. From Richardsbay, it is not too far to visit Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, that can be done as a day visit and may be worth it since the scenery is quite different to the Sabi Sand.

From Durban or East London I would focus on other activities, not a safari trip.

It is likely that any safari offered by the cruise company would be in Tsavo. If Mombasa is the end of your cruise and you can organize your international flights to give you time to visit a different part of Kenya, then it would probably be worth doing it. Depends on the time of the year, to be honest. When will you reach Mombasa?

Mombasa will be on Jan. 21 of next year. There is one being org. as a private tour by some ship mates...And we do continue on from Africa to Asia so doing more in Kenya isn't in the plan.

Thank you for all of the input re: our ports activities other than safari.
