Apartment rental in the V & A waterfront

We would like to rent for in the V&A waterfront area for 3 weeks in Feb. 2014. There are a number of 1 bedroom apartments in the Marina area. It is hard to tell from the pictures and descriptions which one would be best. Also, hard to tell how recent the pictures are and the age of the buildings. Any suggestions on which apartment buildings are well maintained. We have been looking at the Juliette, Kylemore and Gulmarn. Are these all well maintained buildings.

We also looked at the Rockwell. We felt it may be better to be in the V&A area so we could walk to restaurants if we wanted to (we will be renting a car for 2 of our 3 weeks). Prices at the Rockwell seem more reasonable, but we do not know this area of Cape Town.

Suggestions please.

An idea of your budget would help. The waterfront is probably one of the most expensive areas to stay, when only a mile or two away in the city centre or Seapoint/Greenpoint you can find just as nice accomodation/area at a lower price. We engage with the hotels and apartments on a daily basis so can offer some advice. It would also help if you could let us know what kind of activities, nightlife and entertainment you would look for.

The apartments in the Waterfront area are very well maintained. A company that i can recommend to look into is Village & Life. They handle many of the apartments in the Marina Block and then they also have The Bluff Entrance Apartments. For the Rockwell Apartments it is just as good, a little bit further away from the Waterfront but within easy walking distance.

The apartments we have booked into in the Waterfront (Kylemore and Bannockburn) have always been in excellent condition and exactly like the photos. We've used a couple of different agents to book, Charlotte at classic Travel was good last time. We've just used Safarinow now for our next booking in Lawhill.

There are literally hundreds of apartments surrounding the waterways and yacht harbor at the Waterfront. If you do much 'Googling' you will see some of them show up on different rental broker web sites. Be cautious, and sure that - if you do proceed and attempt to book one - that you are guaranteed the one you want, and are NOT agreeing to language that allows them to give you "something similar". For my clients, I use the Lawhill Apartments. www.lawhillluxuryapartments.com. Generally more expensive than the others, but are actually the shortest walk to the Waterfront shops, cafes, etc. And for a 2-bedroom (or larger) apartment, they offer a 4-for-3 most of the year.

You have a few choices when looking for accommodation:

1) You do it through a website that list homes and you get in contact with the owner - there's no ways of checking of the owner is advertising the same place as the place you'll get into. The negative risk is small.

2) You get to a website that shares reviews from independent guest. That makes it easier.

3) You use a website that only list properties that are verified by the owner of the website. There are very few of these websites.

You may want to have a look at this article on how to verify http://goo.gl/QBLfj

We rented in Cape Town this past January and stayed in Sea Point. I can not recommend the company or unit we had unfortunately - it was just okay. We did enjoy the location in Sea Point, however, if we were to do it again I would be tempted to stay in Mouille Point....an easy walk to V&A if you want to be close by....a few good restaurants on the Point too. We enjoyed drinks at Sotano - nice location along Beach Road. I cannot comment on prices in this area, but might fit your bill!
