I am looking for the nicest hotel in the Winelands in Feb

I am looking for a very nice, luxury (and preferably modern/design decorated) 5-star hotel in the Cape Winelands for 2 nights for 2 persons. We are around 45. Before we stayed at Lanzerac and Le Quartier Francais but we consider them a little outdated. La Residence is beautiful but is more suitable for older people. The Owners Cottage at Grande Provence is a delight but, we had a wonderful family stay, but this time it is only the 2 of us. I heard Grande Provence (stayed there 10 years ago, but was outdated) did some refurbishment? Does anyone has been there recently or has a good idea for accomodation.

We are not particular after a hotel with a great restaurant because the restaurant booking are no problem. I want a big modern room, a nice garden with a big pool.

Please let me know!

Feb might be too soon but you might want to check out the new (but not sure when it is actually going to be open) hotel at Delaire - 10 private suites designed by David Collins.

Maybe the Val d'or Estate near Franschhoek is something for you. It has 4 stars, a big garden, pool and the option of B&B or self-catering:

Another new 5* hotel to check out is Asara. Haven't stayed there myself so can't comment on the service but have been in the rooms and I wouldn't mind staying there for a few nights. (-;

Hi miki

Thought of Asara myself but although it is brand new I think that the OP would think both the rooms and the restaurants to be furnished in far too a traditional, "old people's" style.

Based on the design of the new Wine Centre and Restaurant at Delaire Graaf (cutting edge - no expense spared), I agree with macsym that the new Hotel there will perfectly fit the bill. But will it be open in time? Ring them on +27 21 885 8160 to get the latest status http://www.delaire.co.za/

Otherwise both Mont Rochelle and Klein Genot in Franschhoek have some modernish design rooms - but you may still find the overall design to be too "old people's" traditional :

Wondeful 5 star hotel in Franschhoek is Franschhoek Country House and The Villas at Franschhoek. You have to go a long way to find anything more spectacular.
