A alternative to Olu Deniz but not to much of a change.

We love staying in Olu Deniz but would like to sample other resorts in Turkey.

We have stayed in Kal Kan once before which is nice but we have not been to any other resorts. With Turkey being such a big country they be plenty alternatives to try.

We would be looking for a resort that is around the same size as Olu Deniz and just laid back it is. We have no interest at all in going to any of the big resorts.

Any suggests would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try looking on the Bodrum Peninsula, some lovely small resorts on there..

Bitez, Yalicivak Ortakent..are just a few and all under an hour from the airport..Its very easy to see other resorts on the peninsula aswell using the dolmus..We are also fans of Oludeniz but do like to keep trying other areas..

If you want to fly to Dalaman Turunc is very nice aswell..

I would recommend Dalyan, or Bitez. If you do a google search and click on the images you will find lots of pics of both resorts.

Also look on the forums on here as well.

Agree with Wendy Turunc is lovely!

I Spelt Dalyan wrong.

If going to kas you would use Dalaman airport or Antalya airport.

we normally go to olu deniz, but this year we went to yalikavak on the bodrum peninsula.

We really enjoyed it and going back again next year. It is a little bit bigger than Olu Deniz but a lot more laid back but still has plenty of shops and restaurants .

There are more streets to walk round and the new marina is worth a look just to look at all the super yachts and the designer shops

Also it is well situated to get about and see all the other resorts on the peninsula, as well as Bodrum itself. Still has the gorgeous sunsets like Olu Deniz.

would recommend it as an alternative

Thanks for all your input so far. We would be happy to fly to any of the main resort airports in Turkey so as to find a new resort.

I will spend some time on Google earth to check out some of your recommendations.

If you want to see a place were time has stood still in Turkey and experience what Turkey used to be like about 15 to 20 yrs ago before the influx of all-inclusive and package holidays of the last decade, then Cirali is the place for this..

Cirali is a great little village, nice clean beach and a mix of sand and pebbles, ruins of Olympos and the flames of "Chimaera" the world''s oldest and best-known natural "eternal flame".

No mass tourism or 5 star hotels. Just nice family own hotels and pansiyons. Small shops, quiet bars, restaurants, and no discos. It is more of a place for nature lovers and chilling out. It can be too quiet for some if you are looking for more in the way of and actiive nightlife..

Cirali is centrally located between Antalya and Kas and you can travel farily easily to visit nearby historical areas.

In Cirali there are ..boat trips, snorkelling, long walks, day trips to nearby Kemer or Kumluca to visit local markets, biking, and of course relaxation...not to mention the historical ruins to explore..plenty to keep ones self busy for a week or two.
