just picked this up from the marmaris forum
The Lira now sitting at 3.58 to the pound.Hardly really hurting tourists but hitting the locals a lot more. When we first went it was about 2.5 so a massive drop in value.Mind you most shops priced goods in pounds anyway.
The big change that may have a more noticeable effect on tourist prices is the increase on diesel - this will have a knock on effect to nearly everything.
Most of the changes are intended to try to strengthen the Lira - so long term (if they work) price inreases may not be too bad this year.
Good job you have got your bike FF :-)
Had a flat tyre - inflation hits everything.
its gonna be expensive for The Codfather to fill up the Bat Mobile this year
Bat mobile runs on solar energy - so cheap to run in the summer time.
Just took a risk today and got our lira for hols. It works out an extra 1000 lira more than we was getting in 2012. 2.54 we got..now 3.44
We got 3.471 from debenhams today and a £5 voucher to spend only valid on the day of collection. We don't go until July but thought it too good to miss.
Debenhams give a very good rate if you show you have enquired through Moneysavingexpert.com (there may be other sites that do this) The £5 voucher is given when ordering more than £50 so if you use the voucher you can convince yourself that the rate is 3.47 + 10%. Makes sense to order in lumps of £50 (minimum for voucher) if you like shopping regularly at Debenhams but I don't know what their reaction is to this. I got a free cup of coffee voucher for just chatting to the lady serving at the exchange booth - very nice of her or perhaps she just wanted to get rid of me.
