Xoom vs arbolitos

Hi y'all

I will be in BsAs for 2~ months from May-July. I'm a young (19) solo traveler and I'll be staying in hostels. I'm American and am budgeting about $4k for my time there. The hostel has lockers in the rooms and I have a strong padlock, but I'm nervous about having $4k USD in cash even if it is locked up.

With Xoom, I could make transfers as needed and avoid carrying a bunch of cash at one time. But, I don't know how the rates tend to compare to the blue dollar rate. Can someone help me make a decision as to how I should exchange my money while I'm in Argentina?

Have a look at xoom.com in order to view the current rates then make your decision after seeing the rates and fees.

The rate Xoom will give you is not as good as the blue rate, but still better than the official rate. In terms of safety I think it is the best option for you to transfer funds as you need them instead of traveling and staying at a hostel with 4K.
