How's the security in the city?

Hello,

We're planning to go back to BA next Jan-March. Been wintering there for 8yrs. except last 2yrs.

love the city. love the tango.always have a wonderful time there.

I'm wondering how's the peace & order lately? I'm not as worried as pickpockets.small thiefs.

more concern about holdup w/guns; bad guys following you into your apt. etc.

Pls advice if crimes have risen up? Is that something we must worry about?

appreciate hearing from the locals.

Thank you.

No, I don't think you should worry about security, not more so than you did in your previous trips to Buenos Aires.

Take the usual precautions that you did in previous years, and I'm sure you will be fine.

I don't know if you've been following the news on our economy, but right now the gap between the official dollar rate and the "blue market" is really considerable: 8.30 vs. 13 Pesos. If this breach holds until the summer (ours), that will pay for plenty of Malbec, and whatever means a good time for you !!!

Thanks Vero,

I know, our dollars will go a long way this time. heard it could get to 16pesos next yr??

that's a lot of Malbec & tango shoes.

guess, we can wait for another month before we book our flights.

Ciao,

Nobody knows what the dollar rate is going to be and it didn't really change for the last few years

PaulvH2014,

The dollar almost doubled in the last 2 years vis a vis the peso. To me, that doesn't qualify as "didn't really change."
