Hotels for Salta

We will be on our honeymoon in april and are looking at the reports for different hotels in Salta. Does anyone have suggestions as to what hotels or what areas to stay?

Is it better to stay near the main square or closer to the restaurants which seem to be nearer the train station area.

Thanks

El Lagar. One block from Balcarce but very quiet. Only a few blocks nice walk to the main square. Very romantic. One year ago was named best boutique hotel in Argentina by country's leading travel magazine (Lugares).

Legado Mitico -- we didn't stay there, but stopped by and it was lovely -- very new, small, about 8 rooms I think. I would stay near Balcare St which is where the nightlife seems to be. The area near the main square is very cowded and not particularly romantic!

I like EL lagar more than LEgado Mitico, but here are many other choices... How much would you like to pay? YOu have posada del Marques for U$S 50 to U$S 120 or more...

Both areas are interesting. It is up to you. You will love to walk at night but not to stay longer in the nightlife (take one in downtown) and if you plan one night to seea nice show, finishing at 1 a.m. ot 2 a.m....take EL LAGAR...

Close to Balcarse St.
